This course meets the training requirements established by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy for qualification of New Mexico licensed pharmacists’ prescriptive authority for tobacco cessation drug therapy. [16.19.26.10 NMAC-N, 12-15-02]
This is an interactive case-based course. Each case will purpose to enhance application of AHEC diabetes education didactic materials. The Samuel Harris case and those posted by each of you will make 12 cases available from which to learn and grow your diabetes experience and expertise.
To begin this portion of the NMPhA Pharmacist Diabetes Mellitus (DM) Educator Training go to the Samuel Harris case. There you are asked to answer a series of 7 questions. This case was designed to prepare you for some of the diabetes education questions your patients may have.
After completion of the Samuel Harris case you are asked to present a summary (<10 minutes duration) of one of your most interesting or challenging cases. Your summary is to be presented in this course, under the chat section with your name on it. Once your case is posted each pharmacist-diabetes trainee is asked to provide feedback and/or questions in response to all the posted cases.
According to Greensboro AHEC standards, each candidate, at a minimum, must engage in 6 hours of case study and discussion. The Samuel Harris case and the chat session cases will serve to provide opportunity to fulfill the Greensboro AHEC standards and will and provide you with a set of comprehensive diabetes education and management experiences.
