  • The Orientation to Part C course is designed for all new staff, parents, and other community service providers who are seeking a basic understanding of the New Mexico Part C early intervention system, the Family Infant Toddler (FIT) Program, which is part of the New Mexico Department of Health, Developmental Disabilities Supports Division. This on-line course provides an introduction to the FIT system and practical information for providing early intervention services in New Mexico. It will cover the law, the services and staff roles and responsibilities within the system, along with the core values, which form the foundation for providing services to infants and toddler with disabilities and their families.

    The New Mexico Department of Health, Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) Statewide Training Database Online Data Entry and Reporting System Orientation provides a self-paced learning opportunity for Administrators and Trainers to gain knowledge and skill in using the DDSD Statewide Training Database to update information for their agency.

  • This online training provides a rationale for designing, adapting, and implementing literacy rich interactions, strategies, curricula, and environments for young children with diverse learning needs. The seminar provides an overview of the impact and implications of diverse learning needs on literacy development. The focus of the seminar is on applying practical strategies and individualized adaptations for young children with special needs that support their literacy development.

  • This training provides a brief overivew of inlcusion's conceptual framework within developmentally appropriate practice for preschool children. The training focuses on the when and why of modifications. The emphasis will be on learning practical strategies for accomodating all children in early childhood settings and adapting toys and play material within the learning adaptation continuum.


  • This seminar is divided into six modules that focus on the application of the SELF Process (Interview, Observation, Intervention). The emphasis of the seminar will be on identifying the underlying factors that impact self-regulation and will include the use of the Observation of Self-Regulation Variables (OBSRV) tool. In addition, participants will learn how to use the SELF Strategies Menu to provide information and suggestions to families on changing interaction patterns and styles and adapting environments to help children better regulate their emotions and behavior.Two case studies will be used to practice application of the SELF Assessment-Intervention Process.
