| Training for Shippers and Transporters of Radiopharmaceuticals (DOT) Authorized Nuclear Pharmacists (ANP) |
General Radiation Safety training is required of all employees who receive, or might receive, an occupational exposure while working in or near a controlled area. These individuals may routinely enter the controlled area and encounter postings, radiation producing devices or radioactive materials. Employee responsibilities for observing and obeying radiation safety postings and procedures are emphasized throughout this training.
Additional training beyond General Radiation Safety is required for all employees who are identified as radiological workers. Every employee, both radiological workers and non-radiological workers, must play an active role in maintaining exposures to radiation and radioactive materials within regulatory (Nuclear Regulatory Commission or Agreement State) limits and in compliance with As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles.
Trained individuals should be able to place the risks associated with working with, or near radiation and/or radioactive materials in perspective with other risks encountered in everyday life.
